My first post on Tracy Doerr 3.0 was an video on Moleskin’s Recipe Journal on April 24, 2010. Nothing special except for the fact it was the first step in getting the blog off the ground.

A Post You Enjoyed Writing the Most

I had a lot of fun writing the humour post William Shatner We Need to Talk/Procrastination Thy Name is William Shatner. It was a hyperbole post on how easily we can be distracted by the internet.

A Post Which Had a Great Discussion

Written after the Word Count Blogathon, 6 Ways the Word Count Blogathon Changed My Blogging Life. It had a wide appeal among the other bloggers who participated in the blogathon. The post unexpectedly stimulated an exciting conversation on what was learned through the discipline of posting daily for 30 days. I subsequently wrote follow-up posts expanding on my major points.

A Post On Someone Else’s Blog That You Wish You’d Written

This is a tough one. I read a lot of great blogs covering a lot of topics. I don’t think, however, that there is one that I covet, one that I wished was of my own making word for word. I think bloggers tackle posts in their own special way – while there may be a hot meme circulating throughout a community – each blogger uses their own voice and experiences when crafting it.

A Post That You Wish More People Had Read

10 Tools to back up your social media was a post that I thought would receive a lot more traffic than it did. I wrote it immediately after Twitter experienced problems with a bug that set people’s followers/following numbers to 0. I think, however, it illustrates that people don’t realize that your social media accounts are just as vulnerable as your hard drive. By taking a few minutes to back up your Facebook and Twitter accounts is like buying insurance for when disaster hits.

Your Most Visited Post Ever

Carson Brackey – Word Count Blogathon Series is my most popular post. When I did this year’s Word Count Blogathon in May I interviewed a number of fellow bloggerthoners. It doesn’t surprise me that this particular post is a hit – Carson is an incredibly talented freelance writer and consultant.

The Waterloo Band Festival was organized by Charles F. Thiele in 1932 in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Waterloo Musical Society. The festival became an annual event at Waterloo Park from 1932 to 1940 and again from 1946 to 1958, known as Canada’s premiere band festival. At times 70 bands from Ontario, Quebec, Wisconsin, Michigan, and (one year) Kamloops, BC, appeared in concerts and parades, and over the years more than 1000 contestants participated in 100 instrumental competitions.

Uptown Jazz Festival

18th Annual Uptown Jazz Festival is on this Friday through Sunday. The FREE event is held on two stages – the Waterloo City Hall Parking lot off Regina and a satellite stage at the new Waterloo Public Square on King Street and Willis Way.

The Jazz Festival’s guiding principle is:

“To consistently maintain a pure jazz focus; to sustain and promote the local jazz connection; to strive to expand and develop the FREE Festival in quality and magnitude; to encourage the active participation of all ages and to advocate the development of an ongoing association between UpTown Waterloo and Jazz.”

Featured Artists Include:

Sophia Milman – 9 p.m. Friday (main stage)

Matt Dusk – 9 p.m. Saturday (main stage)

Jake Langley – 3 p.m. Sunday (main stage)
